My journey with meditation began a little more than three years ago. Prior to Intuitive Coach training, my experience with meditation had been in a yoga class or a few minutes at Rancho La Puerta on vacation. During coach training, we practiced a method of meditation that allowed our 'monkey mind' or active, logical left brain to be occupied, opening up the right brain to receive intuitive information. And it worked! I needed to know more.
I started to read everything I could about meditation and started to practice different forms - walking meditation, mantra meditation, prayer meditation...you get the picture. I also attended a "Learn to Meditate" class at the Shambhala Meditation Center in New York City. It was an interesting experience and one I recommend. I love being exposed to and learning new things. At the point when I was overwhelmed with information and types of meditation, I came to the conclusion that no one method of meditation was right or wrong. I could create a practice that supported me. It's called a meditation practice for a reason...it takes practice to sit still for any length of time. My goal is to sit in meditation for 20 minutes each day. When I honor my practice, the rest of my day is more balanced and in tune. And when I don't, I can feel the difference and I am a bit out of sync, which encourages me to find the time to meditate. Do you have a meditation practice or are you on a meditation journey with me - discovering the benefits of meditation through experience and incorporating it into your life. Think about it and stay tuned, more of my journey to follow. Peace, Love and Sparks! Deb
